Two Leaders in Education Reform Scheduled to Speak in Tulsa

Two leaders in education reform will be in Tulsa on Saturday, February 26th for the second Community Conversation.  Deborah Gist, Rhode Island’s Commissioner of Elementary and Secondary Education, and Janet Barresi, Oklahoma’s newly elected State Superintendent of Public Instruction, will share their perspectives on education reform in Oklahoma and across the nation. 

Before the Conversation, attendees will enjoy an encore screening of Waiting for Superman. Both activities will take place at the Circle Cinema, Tulsa’s Non-Profit and Independent Movie Theatre located at 10 South Lewis Avenue.  Sessions are offered without cost.  Seating is limited and will be available on a first come, first served basis.

The first Community Conversation was held at the Circle Cinema on November 3, 2010, and featured a panel representing the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Tulsa Public Schools, Tulsa Classroom Teachers Association and KIPP*Tulsa.  This event is hosted by Circle Cinema with support from the Charles and Lynn Schusterman Family Foundation.
